Job Summary:
- The Surgical Technologist plays a critical role in the operating room, providing essential support to surgeons, nurses, and anesthesiologists.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Anticipating surgical needs and efficiently handing instruments to surgeons to ensure smooth workflow during procedures.
- Monitoring and managing certain medical equipment, including devices related to vital signs.
- Setting up and maintaining the sterile surgical field in collaboration with nurses and physicians.
- Assembling, transporting, and retrieving surgical instruments while ensuring all equipment is accounted for post-operation.
- Ensuring availability and readiness of all necessary surgical supplies including sterile linens, saline, lighting, and suction machines.
- Inspecting, decontaminating, maintaining, and repairing surgical instruments and equipment, and maintaining accurate inventory records.
- Assisting with pre- and post-operative patient care, including tasks such as shaving, dressing wounds, and patient transport.
Certification:
- NBSTSA (National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting) certification – must be attached to the submission.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification – must be from the American Heart Association and attached to the submission.
Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years recent experience as a Surgical Technologist in a hospital setting.
