Job Description

Job Summary:

  • Performs diagnostic imaging procedures under the direction of a radiologist or other healthcare provider.
  • Responsible for preparing patients, operating imaging equipment, obtaining diagnostic-quality studies, utilizing radiation safety measures, and supporting patient care activities while maintaining excellent customer service standards.
  • Technologists must actively perform and maintain competency in two or more imaging modalities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and position patients for imaging procedures.
  • Perform diagnostic imaging studies according to established protocols.
  • Operate imaging equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Apply radiation protection measures and safety standards.
  • Produce high-quality diagnostic images.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, providers, and staff.
  • Assist in patient care activities as needed.
  • Support departmental customer service and operational excellence initiatives.
  • Perform duties across multiple imaging modalities.
  • Complete additional departmental duties as assigned.

Required Education:

  • Completion of an ARRT-accredited Radiologic Technology program.

Preferred Education:

  • Additional 1–2 years of college coursework and/or degree in a healthcare-related field.

Required Certifications & Licensure:

  • ARRT Registered Radiologic Technologist (RT).
  • Current Wisconsin Radiographer License.
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS).

Advanced Modality Certification:

Must be actively working in two or more of the following modalities and meet advanced certification requirements:

  • CT (ARRT-CT).
  • Mammography (ARRT-M).
  • Bone Densitometry (ARRT-Client).
  • Diagnostic X-Ray.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Current clinical experience in at least two or more imaging modalities.
  • Diagnostic X-ray experience.
  • CT, Mammography, and/or Bone Densitometry experience.
  • Patient preparation and positioning.
  • Diagnostic imaging procedure performance.
  • Imaging equipment operation.
  • Radiation protection and radiation safety practices.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to provide effective interaction with patients, visitors, and staff.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • One year of current clinical experience in each modality performed.
