Job Description

Job Summary:

• As a member of the surgical team, collaborates in providing patient care to ensure patient goals are achieved and organizational standards are met.
• Performs procedures across multiple surgical specialties requiring advanced technical knowledge and skills and demonstrates a higher level of collaboration in surgical patient care decision-making.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Prepare and maintain sterile surgical fields.
• Assist surgeons during operative procedures.
• Anticipate surgical instrumentation and supply needs.
• Support patient care throughout the perioperative process.
• Perform duties across multiple surgical specialties.
• Maintain sterile technique and infection prevention standards.
• Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure efficient and safe patient care.
• Participate in surgical patient care decisions appropriate to role.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Education:

High School Diploma/GED and one of the following:

• Completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist Program.
• Completion of a Military Training Program as an Operating Room Specialist.
• Completion of a Froedtert Health sponsored Apprentice II Program.
• 10 or more years of experience as a Surgical Technologist.

Required Certifications & Licensure:

• American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers or equivalent.

Required Skills & Experience:

• Minimum 2 years of full-time experience as a Surgical Technologist.
• Proficiency in ENT surgical procedures.
• Proficiency in Neuro surgical procedures.
• Experience assisting in multiple surgical specialties.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with surgeons, anesthesia providers, nurses, and surgical team members.
• Knowledge of surgical instrumentation, sterile technique, and patient safety practices.
