Job Description
Job Summary:
- As a member of the surgical team, collaborates in providing patient care to ensure patient goals are achieved and organizational standards are met.
- Performs procedures across multiple surgical specialties requiring advanced technical knowledge and skills and demonstrates a higher level of collaboration in surgical patient care decision-making.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare and maintain sterile surgical fields.
- Assist surgeons during operative procedures.
- Anticipate surgical instrumentation and supply needs.
- Support patient care throughout the perioperative process.
- Perform duties across multiple surgical specialties.
- Maintain sterile technique and infection prevention standards.
- Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure efficient and safe patient care.
- Participate in surgical patient care decisions appropriate to role.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Education:
High School Diploma/GED and one of the following:
- Completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist Program.
- Completion of a Military Training Program as an Operating Room Specialist.
- Completion of a Froedtert Health sponsored Apprentice II Program.
- 10 or more years of experience as a Surgical Technologist.
Required Certifications & Licensure:
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers or equivalent.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of full-time experience as a Surgical Technologist.
- Proficiency in ENT surgical procedures.
- Proficiency in Neuro surgical procedures.
- Experience assisting in multiple surgical specialties.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with surgeons, anesthesia providers, nurses, and surgical team members.
- Knowledge of surgical instrumentation, sterile technique, and patient safety practices.
