Job Description
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepares patients and performs radiographic procedures at the direction of a radiologist or provider.
- Performs diagnostic studies per guidelines and protocols using radiation safety standards.
- Provides effective communication with patients, visitors, and staff.
- Assists in patient care areas and performs ancillary services as necessary.
- Accurately and efficiently performs radiologic/fluoroscopic procedures.
- Provides radiation protection to self and patients (ALARA compliance).
- Positions patients and selects technical factors for high-quality images.
- Ensures correct image ID, annotation, and technical accuracy.
- Collaborates with radiologists and ordering providers for exam guidance.
- Approves and archives images to PACS; performs PACS reconciliations.
- Documents fluoroscopy time and estimated skin exposure.
- Demonstrates EPIC proficiency and follows EPIC workflows.
- Assists with patient transport and department support tasks.
- Supports onboarding, training, and mentorship of staff and students.
- Reports and helps troubleshoot equipment malfunctions.
- Offers department-wide support to maintain efficient operations.
Education and Experience:
- Post high school completion of an ARRT-accredited Radiologic Technology program – Required.
- 1–2 years of additional college/university coursework or an undergraduate healthcare degree – Preferred.
- One year of current clinical experience or clinical student experience – Required.
Licensure & Certifications:
- ARRT registered RT (R) in diagnostic radiology – Required.
- State of Wisconsin Radiographer License – Required.
- AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) or AHA-approved equivalent – Required.
