Job Description
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performs MRI studies under the direction of a radiologist and oversight of a senior MRI Technologist.
- This individual interacts with imaging staff, nursing, physicians, patients and visitors.
- Acts as a resource person for MRI technical, and other issues, and demonstrates competence according to specific guidelines and prescribed protocols.
- Operates MRI and related equipment, prepares scan room -equipment, supplies and medications.
- This individual also maintains images and archives associated with patient data.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Education:
- Graduate of an JCERT approved two-year radiologic technology program.
- Successful completion of a cross-sectional anatomy class.
- Preferred Education:
- Two or four year college degree in radiologic technology, healthcare, business or other related degree.
Required Certifications & Licensure:
- ARRT registered.
- Advanced certification through ARRT in ARRT-MR is required within 18 months of hire.
- For those sites requiring advanced certification in MRI/CT, MR must be achieved within the first 18 months; CT certification must be achieved within 30 months of hire date.
- BLS certified within 90 days of hire date.
Preferred Certifications & Licensure:
- State of WI license in Radiologic Technology if incumbent performs CT, general radiography, or any other imaging using ionizing radiation; if practice is limited to MRI and/or Ultrasound, no state license is required.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Ability and demonstrated competence in IV insertion and contrast injection.
- Ability to assimilate new procedures into work routine is required.
