Job Summary:
- Performs waived, moderate, and high complexity testing on patient specimens.
- Correlates and interprets data using critical thinking and instrument knowledge.
- Teaches and trains students, new hires, residents, and medical students.
- Handles problem resolution, equipment maintenance, reagent prep, and data entry.
- Completes all required competency assessments successfully and on time.
Job Responsibilities:
- Accurately and efficiently performs all assigned tests using strong knowledge of principles and procedures.
- Interprets and verifies test results, investigates abnormal data, and escalates potential issues to leadership.
- Maintains an organized, clean workstation and handles fluctuating workloads with flexibility.
- Performs quality control procedures, documents corrective actions, and troubleshoots equipment problems.
- Trains new staff and students, engages in professional development, and completes competency assessments within defined limits.
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Medical Laboratory Science (formerly Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology)
Licensure & Certifications Required (must hold one):
- American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) – Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS)
- American Medical Technologists (AMT) – Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS)
