Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)

Job Description

Job Summary:

• The Registered Respiratory Therapist provides specialized cardiopulmonary care for pediatric patients, utilizing advanced respiratory therapies and techniques to optimize patient outcomes.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Administer respiratory therapies including oxygen therapy, aerosol treatments, inhaled medications, airway clearance, and invasive/non-invasive ventilation.
• Perform bedside spirometry and assist in cardiopulmonary resuscitation during emergencies.
• Review physician orders and diagnostic results to determine appropriate respiratory therapy.
• Monitor patient response to treatments and adjust care using approved clinical protocols.
• Educate patients and families on respiratory care equipment and therapy techniques.
• Accurately document treatments, supplies used, and patient responses in electronic medical records.
• Follow hospital policies including infection control, HIPAA, and patient safety protocols.

Requirements:

• RRT & RCP Certification.
• BLS (AHA).
• PALS (Required).
• NRP (Preferred).
• Minimum 4 years of experience in General Pediatrics and PICU.

Additional Skills:

• Strong knowledge of pediatric respiratory care therapies, equipment, and medications.
• Ability to work efficiently in high-acuity pediatric and PICU environments.
• Excellent critical thinking, problem-solving, and electronic documentation skills.
