Job Description
Job Summary:
- The Cardiac Sonographer performs non-invasive cardiac ultrasound procedures for adult patients, including transthoracic, transesophageal, and stress echocardiography.
- This role supports diagnostic and interventional cardiology services in a Level 1 cardiac facility by delivering accurate, high-quality imaging and collaborating closely with physicians and clinical teams.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform transthoracic, transesophageal, and stress echocardiograms.
- Obtain accurate diagnostic images, measurements, and reports for physician interpretation.
- Identify cardiac abnormalities and adjust imaging techniques as clinically required.
- Assist cardiologists during procedures, including transesophageal studies and complex cardiac cases.
- Prepare patients, explain procedures, and obtain relevant clinical and cardiac history.
- Maintain echocardiography lab equipment and report malfunctions as needed.
- Follow quality standards, clinical protocols, and IAC accreditation requirements.
- Act as a resource for physicians, staff, and students.
- Support implementation of new technologies and evolving echocardiography standards.
Certification and Experience:
- BLS certification (required).
- RDCS or RCS certification (required).
- 3–5 years of experience in a Level 1 cardiac facility.
- Experience with ECMO, Impella, TAVR, and LVAD cases.
Knowledge & Skills:
- Strong knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and sonographic principles
- Proficiency with echocardiography equipment, computers, and medical systems
- Strong communication and patient-care skills.
