Job Summary:
- The Surgical Technologist supports the surgical team during the intraoperative phase of patient care under the direction of an RN.
- The role is responsible for preparing the OR, maintaining the sterile field, and ensuring surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies are available and functioning properly.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- Prepare the OR, sterile instruments, equipment, and supplies for scheduled procedures.
- Maintain sterile and aseptic technique throughout surgical procedures.
- Perform accurate counts of instruments, sponges, sharps, and other supplies.
- Pass instruments and supplies to the surgeon and surgical team.
- Anticipate surgical team needs and assist with patient positioning and draping.
- Prepare the operative site as required.
- Receive and properly handle surgical specimens.
- Assist with surgical dressings and completion of procedures.
- Decontaminate and prepare instruments for sterilization.
- Clean and reset the OR following each procedure.
- Identify and resolve issues with damaged or incomplete instrument trays.
- Follow infection prevention, AORN, OSHA, and facility safety standards.
Required Experience :
- Minimum 3 years of Surgical Technologist experience.
- CST certification through NBSTSA or NCCT.
- BLS – American Heart Association (AHA).
- Neuro.
- Urology.
- Client.
- General Surgery.
- Robotics – Da Vinci Xi.
- Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program or qualifying military/OR training.
Call Requirements:
- 4 call shifts per month, 7:00 PM–7:00 AM
- Includes 1 weekend call shift
- 1 holiday call shift
