Job Description

Job Summary:

  • The Mammography Technologist 2, under general supervision of a Radiologist, performs advanced Breast Imaging procedures on ambulatory and hospital patients as requested by a physician or other licensed provider for the diagnosis of disease and injury in accordance with established protocols.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs high-quality Breast Imaging procedures according to protocol in a timely manner.
  • Utilizes AIDET communication with patients to confirm correct exams and establish rapport.
  • Instructs and communicates with patients/families regarding procedures and patient tolerance.
  • Prepares patients and procedure areas, positions patients, and adjusts equipment for proper imaging.
  • Adheres to safety, infection-control, radiation, and sterile technique requirements.
  • Maintains equipment and work areas; reports issues and assists with inventory.
  • Screens individuals for safe entry into the department.
  • Obtains, verifies, and maintains relevant documentation, consents, and records per policy.
  • Maintains imaging records for interpretation promptly and accurately.

Certification:

  • BLS, TMB, ARRT.

Experience:

  • 3 yrs min experience.

Scrub Color:

  • Black.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Skilled in Breast Imaging, including stereotactic biopsies, needle localization, and ultrasound-guided biopsies.
  • Strong patient communication skills; able to put patients at ease.
  • Provides accurate, timely, cost-efficient services in compliance with standards.
  • Works independently with minimal oversight.
  • Maintains professionalism and calm demeanor under stress.
  • Competent in first aid and emergency response.
  • Focused on patient satisfaction and service excellence.
  • Maintains current knowledge/skills and provides age-appropriate care (pediatric, young adult, adult, geriatric).
  • Serves as preceptor, training new staff and supporting new services.
