Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Confirms appropriateness of ordered exam from the diagnosis. Contacts appropriate medical staff for additional information regarding the patient when necessary.
  • Communicates with the Radiologist to obtain appropriate exam protocol.
  • Makes informed decisions regarding protocols.
  • Selects appropriate equipment and patient position to ensure optimal diagnostic images as observed by the Team Leader.
  • Transmits cases as needed to the Archive System.
  • Assists the Radiologist with any procedure requested.
  • Performs quality control checks for all exams scanned by following established protocol guidelines or as observed by Team.
  • Maintains an accurate logbook of all patients scanned on a daily basis.

Documents the following:

  • Pertinent patient history, if any type of sedation used on patient requisition; and number of films used (including discards and copies) in radiology information system, ensuring to comply with departmental

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Prefer gynecology 1st trimester scanning experience, Follicular experience preferred, ARDMS registered, EPIC experience.
  • Broad knowledge of ultrasound physics and procedures.
  • Operation of all required equipment including troubleshooting when necessary.
  • Operation of automatic processor, copying/digitizing film equipment, R.I.S., PACS related equipment, basic life support and medical terminology.
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent customer service and positive guest relations.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Operate basic office equipment.
  • Demonstrate (preferably) bilingual skills.

Required Certification:

  • Successful completion of a formal 2-year training in a school of Ultrasound by the Joint Review committee for in the Radiological Sciences (JRCERT) of the American Medical Association Required- RDMS – Cert-Reg Diag. Medical Sono American Registry of Diagnostic Medical- RDMS.
