Surgical Technologist II

Job Description

Job Summary:

• The Surgical Technologist II is responsible for preparing and assisting with surgical procedures in accordance with operating room policies, ensuring patient safety, and maintaining sterile technique at all times.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Prepare and assist in the operating room setup according to patient age, surgical procedure, and surgeon preference.
• Anticipate the needs of the surgeon and ensure availability of appropriate instruments and supplies.
• Maintain accurate counts of sponges, needles, and instruments as per established protocols.
• Assist in specimen care and labeling per OR policy.
• Ensure all instruments and equipment are cleaned, sterilized, and maintained properly.
• Assist with room setup, equipment checks, and supply restocking.
• Participate in ongoing education and training to enhance professional development.
• Demonstrate competency in handling robotic, laparoscopic, obstetric, gynecologic, and open surgical cases.

Certification:

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) required.
• Current Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or equivalent (e.g., Tech in Surgery-Certified (TS-C) from NCCT).
  BLS (AHA).

Experience: 

• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in obstetric, gynecology, robotic, laparoscopic, and open cases.

Skills: 

• Strong knowledge of surgical instrumentation, sterile technique, and OR safety protocols.
