Job Description
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Continuously evaluates the effectiveness and efficiency of the POCT program; proactively investigates new methodologies, instrumentation and systems; makes recommendations for improvements as appropriate.
- Coordinates the evaluation and implementation of appropriate tests methodologies and instrumentation.
- Develops & validates processes/written procedures required for the implementation of new or modified
testing processes. - Assists in performing data management system work station functions including maintenance and system checks; reviews and follows up on flags, investigates unknown operators, maintains approved operator list, and investigates patient identification errors.
- Works toward goal of standardizing test procedures as much as possible across the IDS to facilitate economies of scale and integration of result .
- Reviews POCT manuals at all sites at least annually.
- Collaborates with IDS department leadership involved in POCT and Pathology administrative staff to write and implement appropriate policies for POCT.
- Communicates clearly, effectively, and in a positive manner with others to ensure a good working relationship between entities and the provision of quality patient care.
Education and Experience:
- Seeking candidate with a laboratory generalist background.
- BS in Medical Technology, MT(ASCP), or Medical Laboratory Science, MLS (ASCP).
- Prior Point of Care Testing (POCT) experience is preferred but not required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, laboratory, chemical, physical or biological science.
- One (1) year of laboratory experience.
One of the following certifications:
- Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) certification issued by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP).
- Medical Technologist (MT) certification issued by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP).
