Job Summary:
- The Pharmacist is responsible for providing safe, effective, and developmentally appropriate pharmaceutical care by managing the medication-use process. This role focuses on preventing and resolving medication-related issues while ensuring compliance with hospital policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements for patients ranging from newborns to adults.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Review and verify medication orders for accuracy, dosing, allergies, interactions, and clinical appropriateness.
- Accurately enter medication orders into the pharmacy system.
- Ensure medications are dispensed correctly with zero tolerance for errors.
- Process and deliver medication orders within established turnaround times.
- Prepare sterile medications using proper aseptic technique and infection control practices.
- Ensure pharmacy technicians and staff follow sterile compounding and infection control standards.
- Complete required annual aseptic technique and infection control recertifications.
- Maintain compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory guidelines.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or PharmD in Pharmacy.
- Active RPH license in the state of Texas.
- 2+ years of hospital pharmacist experience preferred (especially medication preparation).
- 20 hours of sterile compounding training (ACPE or ASHP accredited) preferred.
