Job Summary:
- The Cardiovascular Invasive Technician is responsible to surgically scrub in and assist with equipment.
- Assists the Cardiovascular Invasive Specialists with radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures is a secondary assignment.
- Prepares room and equipment, transports and monitors patients.
- May handle medications in accordance with responsibilities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assists Physicians with arteriograms/catheterizations, permanent pacemaker implantations, diagnostic and interventional, peripheral and coronary, interventional and thrombolytic therapy.
- Related duties include: preparing and maintaining sterile 1 fields for lab procedures; printing film and calculating stenosis on peripheral cases; circulating in procedure rooms and collecting data on appropriate forms; monitoring patient’s ECG and vital signs while in Catheterization Lab, notifying Physician of variances, and providing emergency procedures (CPR, defibrillation, etc.) as needed.
- Performs pre-and post-procedure care.
- Monitors and orients patients for specials/catheterization procedures.
- Answers related questions to make patient comfortable.
- Transports patients to and from procedural area.
- Communicates relevant medical information to physicians and other staff through required documentation on specified medical record forms.
- Records, enters into data computer and calculates catheterization data, gradients, LV grams, cardiac outputs, and peripheral stenosis.
- Follows national and state radiation protection regulations for patients, self and staff.
- Maintains inventory of and orders procedure room supplies.
- Ensures procedure rooms are adequately stocked and equipment is safe to use.
Certification:
- ARRT, MRT, BLS, ACLS.
Experience:
- One (1) year clinical experience preferred.
- Cath/EP Tech experience required.
- 2 years of experience required.
- Impella experience preferred.
- Use of basic office equipment and computer literacy required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to multi-task and self-lead problem solving skills.
- Ability to demonstrate precision and flexibility.
- Use of basic office equipment and computer literacy required.
- Knowledge and ability to apply complex invasive cardiac and vascular principles, instrumentation and techniques.
- Knowledge of cardiovascular anatomy and physiology.
