Registered Respiratory Therapist

Job Description

Job Summary:

• The Registered Respiratory Therapist provides advanced cardiopulmonary care to patients using evidence-based respiratory therapies and techniques to improve patient outcomes.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Administer respiratory care including oxygen therapy, aerosol therapy, inhaled medications, airway clearance, and invasive/non-invasive ventilation.
• Perform bedside spirometry and assist in cardiopulmonary resuscitation during emergencies.
• Review physician orders and diagnostic results to determine appropriate respiratory therapy.
• Monitor patient response to treatment and adjust care as needed under approved protocols.
• Educate patients on respiratory equipment and proper therapy techniques.
• Document treatments, supplies used, and patient responses in electronic medical records.
• Maintain compliance with infection control, HIPAA, and hospital policies.

Requirements:

• RRT Certification.
• BLS (AHA Only).
• Texas Medical Board (TMB) License.
• Minimum 1 year of experience.

Additional Skills:

• Strong knowledge of respiratory care therapies, equipment, and medications.
• Critical thinking and problem-solving in high-pressure clinical environments.
• Proficiency in electronic documentation and general computer systems.
