Job Description
Job Summary:
- The Registered Respiratory Therapist provides advanced cardiopulmonary care to patients using evidence-based respiratory therapies and techniques to improve patient outcomes.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Administer respiratory care including oxygen therapy, aerosol therapy, inhaled medications, airway clearance, and invasive/non-invasive ventilation.
- Perform bedside spirometry and assist in cardiopulmonary resuscitation during emergencies.
- Review physician orders and diagnostic results to determine appropriate respiratory therapy.
- Monitor patient response to treatment and adjust care as needed under approved protocols.
- Educate patients on respiratory equipment and proper therapy techniques.
- Document treatments, supplies used, and patient responses in electronic medical records.
- Maintain compliance with infection control, HIPAA, and hospital policies.
Requirements:
- RRT Certification.
- BLS (AHA Only).
- Texas Medical Board (TMB) License.
- Minimum 1 year of experience.
Additional Skills:
- Strong knowledge of respiratory care therapies, equipment, and medications.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving in high-pressure clinical environments.
- Proficiency in electronic documentation and general computer systems.
