Medical Laboratory Scientist I

Job Description

Job Summary:

• The Med Lab Scientist I performs and monitors a full range of laboratory testing and analysis with minimal supervision.
• The role is responsible for accurate testing and reporting, quality control, equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and compliance with laboratory procedures and regulatory requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform laboratory tests according to established procedures and regulatory requirements.
• Follow quality control, quality assurance, safety, and infection control procedures.
• Perform instrument maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting.
• Accurately report test results.
• Maintain appropriate laboratory supplies and inventory.
• Communicate effectively with laboratory personnel, other departments, and external customers.
• Participate in laboratory projects and educational activities.
• Assist with educating and training others on laboratory principles and technical skills.

Experience, Certification & Licenses:

• Minimum 2 years of laboratory experience.
• MLS certification through ASCP or AMT.
• BLS certification through AHA is required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Knowledge of laboratory regulations, protocols, and procedures.
• Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills.
• Ability to follow and communicate instructions effectively.
• Proficiency in laboratory procedures and protocols.
• Computer and laboratory software skills.
• Knowledge of safety and infection control standards.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
