Job Description
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Dispensing Medication:
- Dispense medication under pharmacist supervision.
- Investigate medication-related issues and missing doses.
- Calculate doses accurately to maintain adequate Client (Automated Dispensing Cabinet) supply.
- Load Client per min/max levels and adjust for weekends/holidays.
- Deliver medications to units for timely administration.
- Replenish unit floor stock medications.
- Prepare discharge medications (counting, labeling, packaging).
- Conduct monthly medication room inspections and maintain logs.
- Investigate and compile Pyxis override report data.
- Maintain daily task accuracy above 90%.
- Meet performance expectations based on pharmacy director review.
2. Maintaining Pharmacy Inventory & Supplies:
- Assist pharmacist with inventory of meds and supplies.
- Receive and store incoming meds correctly.
- Rotate stock and track expiration dates.
- Replenish Client medications.
- Process credits/returns within 72 hours.
- Check for expired/short-dated meds in ADCs and med rooms.
- Label bulk meds and supplies appropriately.
- Maintain 90% compliance on inventory tasks.
- Complete all tasks daily.
3. Providing Information & Responding to Requests:
- Provide courteous, accurate service to healthcare staff.
- Answer pharmacy phone calls promptly and direct appropriately.
- Communicate information between pharmacy and providers.
- Assist with locating items or inquiries under pharmacist supervision.
- Assist staff, patients, and visitors at pharmacy window.
- Enter documentation into pharmacy intervention log when needed.
- Maintain 100% professionalism compliance.
- Complete tasks daily.
Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Registered Pharmacy Technician (state requirement).
- Experience in medication dispensing and pharmacy operations.
- Knowledge of inventory processes and Pyxis systems.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
