Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine dental hygiene procedures including prophylaxis, debridement, scaling and root planning.
  • Administer local anesthesia, fluoride varnish, silver diamine fluoride (SDF), and place dental sealants.
  • Conduct oral cancer screenings, periodontal evaluations, and oral health assessments.
  • Apply desensitizing and antimicrobial agents for dental sensitivity and periodontal disease.
  • Take diagnostic dental X-rays and maintain infection control by disinfecting operatories and sterilizing instruments.
  • Maintain dental equipment and supplies, including autoclaves, ultrasonic cleaners, and dental unit water lines.
  • Educate patients on oral hygiene, preventive dental care, and the connection between oral and overall health.
  • Provide post-treatment instructions and patient education.
  • Document patient care accurately in electronic and paper dental records.
  • Collaborate with dentists on treatment plans and patient referrals.
  • Identify patients with urgent dental needs and coordinate referrals.
  • Counsel patients on tobacco cessation, nutrition, HPV vaccination, and support community fluoridation and oral health initiatives.
  • Meet daily productivity goals and Relative Value Unit (RVU) Clients according to Client’s guidelines.

Requirements:

  • Current Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) license.
  • Minimum 1 year of clinical dental hygiene experience.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Willingness to travel throughout the assigned region as needed.

  • Experience in public health or community dental settings.
