Job Description
Job Summary:
- The Cardiac EP Tech is responsible for assisting with all electrophysiology (EP) procedures, ensuring high-quality patient care, and supporting physicians during invasive cardiac procedures.
- The role requires expertise in EP monitoring/stimulation systems, intracardiac echocardiography, 3D mapping, and device implantation.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with all EP lab procedures, including ablations, LAAOs, and device implantations (Pacemakers, ICDs, Bi-V ICDs).
- Operate and troubleshoot EP monitoring systems, X-ray systems, and 3D mapping technology.
- Maintain sterile technique and assist physicians during procedures.
- Monitor patient vitals and arrhythmias, ensuring timely intervention during complications.
- Accurately document patient data and billing information.
- Assist with radiation safety, keeping exposure levels minimal.
- Contribute to materials management, ensuring the EP lab is stocked with necessary supplies.
- Uphold hospital policies, patient confidentiality, and safety standards.
- Provide support during emergency situations in the EP lab.
Required Licensure/Certification:
- ARRT Certification (if Radiology Technician) OR Active RN License (if Registered Nurse).
Preferred Licensure/Certification:
- RCIS or RCES credential.
Education & Experience:
- Graduate from an accredited Radiologic Technology program + 1 year EP experience.
- Graduate from an accredited Nursing (BSN preferred) program + 1 year EP experience.
- High school graduate + 2 years EP lab experience.
Technical Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of cardiac arrhythmias, EP procedures, and invasive cardiac interventions.
- Experience with ablations, LAAOs, and device implantations.
- Ability to operate and troubleshoot EP monitoring, X-ray, and mapping systems.
Work Environment Requirements:
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting (over 50 lbs).
- Exposure to blood, body fluids, and infectious materials.
- Work under stressful conditions, deadlines, and irregular hours.
Additional Requirements:
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Must be comfortable handling emergency situations.
- Adherence to hospital safety standards and protocols.
