Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assess, implement, and evaluate respiratory care services according to hospital standards and department policies.
  • Deliver respiratory care interventions in critical and non-critical care areas.
  • Perform medication administration via nebulizer or metered dose inhaler.
  • Provide humidity and aerosol therapy, medical gas administration, incentive spirometry, respiratory mechanics, PEP therapy, pulse oximetry, and chest physiotherapy.
  • Perform CPR, mechanical ventilation, intubation, extubation, suctioning, and bronchoscopy assistance.
  • Monitor ventilator settings and patient responses to changes.
  • Verify physician orders and document clinical information accurately in medical records.
  • Respond to code blues, RIT/CRIT calls, and patient transports promptly.
  • Communicate effectively with healthcare teams, patients, and families.
  • Participate in mentoring new personnel and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Support departmental goals through education, in-services, and variance reporting.
  • Organize and prioritize patient care activities appropriately.

Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care program.
  • Valid Oklahoma Provisional Respiratory Care Practitioner License (RCP) or temporary practice letter issued by the Oklahoma Medical Board.
  • CRT or RRT credential through the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC).
  • BLS certification within 2 months of hire.
  • 0–6 months of related experience.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Basic PC and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and make clinical judgments.

Preferences:

  • Experience in critical care and ventilator management.
  • Ability to mentor and support new staff.
  • Detail-oriented with strong clinical assessment skills.
