Job Description
Job Summary:
- Operates radiology equipment to produce diagnostic images of the body.
- Positions and adjusts equipment for optimal exposure and image quality while ensuring patient safety and comfort in accordance with established standards and procedures.
Job Responsibilities:
- Retrieve radiologic orders and input data into the electronic medical record.
- Prepare and position patients for radiologic procedures, explaining processes to reduce anxiety and ensure cooperation.
- Operate radiologic and fluoroscopic equipment according to established protocols and physician requests.
- Obtain high-quality diagnostic images using CR/DR techniques.
- Apply radiation protection measures for patients and staff, including beam restriction and patient shielding.
- Assist with portable and specialized imaging procedures across various departments and facilities (ER, surgery, outpatient, etc.).
- Maintain and troubleshoot radiology equipment; report malfunctions promptly.
- Stock and maintain exam rooms and supplies as per departmental standards.
- Follow infection control and drug safety protocols; respond appropriately to emergencies.
- Support departmental and hospital goals through participation in education, quality improvement, and professional development activities.
- Ensure patient informed consent and compliance with Universal Protocol for invasive procedures.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to deliver optimal patient care.
Decision-Making & Interactions:
- Exercise independent judgment in planning and performing imaging procedures.
- Interact directly with patients, families, and healthcare professionals both in person and via telephone.
Required Skills & Experience:
- 0–6 months of related experience.
- Working knowledge of digital and computerized radiography systems (DR/CR).
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Strong teamwork, adaptability, and professionalism.
- Basic computer proficiency.
- Ability to perform tasks accurately and wear lead aprons for extended periods.
Required Education:
- Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology Program.
Required Certification & Licensure:
- ARRT (R) – Registered Radiologic Technologist certification.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
