Job Description
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist providers with patient examinations, procedures, treatments, and care coordination.
- Obtain and document vital signs, patient history, medications, symptoms, and interventions.
- Administer medications, including intramuscular injections, as ordered.
- Perform venipuncture and other ancillary services according to protocols.
- Maintain accurate medical records and encounter documentation.
- Use EMR and computer applications according to policies and procedures.
- Track tests, procedures, referrals, and patient follow-ups.
- Assist with scheduling appointments and coordinating patient care.
- Provide patient education and support wellness initiatives.
- Maintain compliance with OSHA, HIPAA, and health-system policies.
- Participate in quality and safety initiatives and maintain patient satisfaction.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Completion of an approved Medical Assistant educational program OR 1 year of related experience within the last 5 years.
- New graduate Medical Assistants are eligible.
- BLS certification required.
- Must have experience administering injections.
- Must be able to demonstrate patient-care, communication, organizational, and computer skills.
- Must understand healthcare delivery processes in a medical-office setting.
