Job Description

Job Summary:

  • Operates computed tomography (CT) equipment to capture cross-sectional diagnostic images of patients’ bodies, assisting physicians in diagnosis and treatment planning.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform diagnostic CT exams in accordance with departmental policies and protocols.
  • Screen, prepare, and position patients for CT procedures based on diagnosis and body part.
  • Operate and maintain knowledge of all CT equipment, including laser cameras.
  • Evaluate CT studies for quality and completeness.
  • Utilize advanced image manipulations such as 3D rendering, reformation, and reconstruction.
  • Understand image display and filming options and troubleshoot imaging problems.
  • Transfer images to PACS system, verify exam completeness, and document timely.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate documentation, including logbooks and charge entries.
  • Administer contrast media under radiologist direction while adhering to safety protocols.
  • Maintain radiation safety for patients, staff, and visitors.
  • Provide patient-centered care by explaining procedures clearly, addressing patient questions, and reducing anxiety.
  • Keep work area clean and appropriately supplied.
  • Exercise independent judgment in technical planning and decision-making.
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with patients, healthcare professionals, and internal/external customers.

Education Requirements:

  • Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology Program.

Certification & Licensure:

  • Registered Radiologic Technologist (ARRT-R).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS).

Technical Skills Required:

  • Minimum 5 years CT experience.
  • Experience with Client CT equipment, EPIC, TEC systems.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • 0 to 6 months related experience (minimum 5 years CT experience preferred – see technical skills).
  • Knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work effectively.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • Level 1 Trauma experience.
  • Experience with Client CT equipment, EPIC, and TEC systems.
