Job Description
Job Summary:
- Operates computed tomography (CT) equipment to capture cross-sectional diagnostic images of patients’ bodies, assisting physicians in diagnosis and treatment planning.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform diagnostic CT exams in accordance with departmental policies and protocols.
- Screen, prepare, and position patients for CT procedures based on diagnosis and body part.
- Operate and maintain knowledge of all CT equipment, including laser cameras.
- Evaluate CT studies for quality and completeness.
- Utilize advanced image manipulations such as 3D rendering, reformation, and reconstruction.
- Understand image display and filming options and troubleshoot imaging problems.
- Transfer images to PACS system, verify exam completeness, and document timely.
- Maintain detailed and accurate documentation, including logbooks and charge entries.
- Administer contrast media under radiologist direction while adhering to safety protocols.
- Maintain radiation safety for patients, staff, and visitors.
- Provide patient-centered care by explaining procedures clearly, addressing patient questions, and reducing anxiety.
- Keep work area clean and appropriately supplied.
- Exercise independent judgment in technical planning and decision-making.
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with patients, healthcare professionals, and internal/external customers.
Education Requirements:
- Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology Program.
Certification & Licensure:
- Registered Radiologic Technologist (ARRT-R).
- Basic Life Support (BLS).
Technical Skills Required:
- Minimum 5 years CT experience.
- Experience with Client CT equipment, EPIC, TEC systems.
Required Skills & Experience:
- 0 to 6 months related experience (minimum 5 years CT experience preferred – see technical skills).
- Knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
- Ability to organize and prioritize work effectively.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Level 1 Trauma experience.
- Experience with Client CT equipment, EPIC, and TEC systems.
