Job Summary:

  • Under immediate supervision, the Surgical Suites Support Associate performs a variety of essential duties to assist the surgical team and ensure smooth operation of the Surgical Suites.
  • This entry-level role supports patient transport, specimen handling, operating room cleaning, and supply management to maintain a safe and efficient surgical environment.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Transport patients, specimens, supplies, blood, and equipment as directed, ensuring all safety protocols for specimen transport are followed.
  • Escort patients and family members to holding areas or waiting rooms.
  • Monitor and report patient status or readiness changes to the OR desk or Charge Nurse promptly.
  • Take emergency action as necessary during patient transport.
  • Assist with moving and positioning patients within the Surgical Suite.
  • Complete all required documentation accurately and timely (approximately 50% of duties).
  • Clean and prepare operating rooms during turnovers following established procedures and guidelines.
  • Perform daily and weekly cleaning tasks throughout the Surgical Suites, including hallways, bathrooms, lounges, and supply areas.
  • Adhere to hospital sanitation, safety, and waste disposal regulations.
  • Properly use cleaning products and equipment in accordance with safety guidelines.
  • Restock supplies, linens, and solutions as needed.
  • Perform other related support duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • 0 to 3 years of experience in a similar role preferred but not required.
  • Basic knowledge of cleaning techniques and hospital sanitation protocols.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to establish positive working relationships with staff and patients.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow both verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to remain calm and effective in emergency situations.

Education & Certifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by the American Heart Association required upon hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Healthcare experience is a plus.
  • Experience as a Scrub Tech or in Sterile Processing is beneficial due to familiarity with instrument handling and inspection.
  • Will be Inspecting each Neuro tray to make sure the instruments are clean prior to sterilization.
  • Instruments may be contaminated. Scrub tech/Sterile Processing experience is a plus as they would be familiar with the handling of the instruments.
