Job Description

Job Summary:

  • Under general supervision, will provide services for the Respiratory Therapy Department in a timely and efficient manner for all appropriate age levels and in all areas that are served by the department.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Administers therapeutic treatments as prescribed by attending medical staff.
  • Records treatment information and patient’s treatment response in their computerized medical record.
  • Acts as a resource person to medical staff.
  • Performs invasive and non-invasive diagnostic testing and monitoring of patients.
  • Provides age appropriate care to patients.
  • Ensures that respiratory equipment is cleaned and maintained.
  • Maintains necessary respiratory therapy records.
  • Performs as part of the quick response team for cardiac and respiratory arrests.

Required Education: 

Graduation from an approved Respiratory Care Program.

Experience:

  • Two (2) years of respiratory care experience in a critical care setting preferred.

Required Certifications & Licensure:

  • Licensed by the Oklahoma Board of Medical Licensure and Supervision as a Respiratory Care Practitioner.
  • Registered by the National Board of Respiratory Care.
  • Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association required upon hire.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (American Heart Association) within 3 months of hire.

Special Requirement:

  • The Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential must be received within 12 months of hire.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of procedures and techniques of Respiratory Therapy and the operation and repair of respiratory equipment.
  • Clinical decision making skills appropriate to patient care as it relates to the pulmonary and cardiac system and to the age of the patient.
  • Ability to interpret the appropriate information to identify patient’s needs.
  • Ability to work under stress.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain a good working relationship with co-workers and staff.
  • Some computer skills.
