Job Description
Job Summary:
- Identifies, processes, and documents laboratory specimens to assess and monitor patient status.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and establish procedures for collecting, processing, and analyzing biological specimens and other substances.
- Perform and report analytical tests, integrating data from various clinical laboratory departments, and make decisions regarding discrepancies.
- Confirm abnormal results by verifying and executing quality control procedures and develop solutions to problems concerning laboratory data.
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on laboratory equipment and identify sources for repairs. - Support laboratory goals through teamwork, service excellence, adherence to guidelines, and continuous process improvement.
- Assist medical laboratory science students during educational laboratory activities.
- Exercise independent judgment in planning operations and making minor decisions in a complex technical or professional field.
Education:
- Baccalaureate Degree in Medical Technology or related biological/chemical science from an accredited college or university.
Certifications & Licensure:
- National certification as a laboratory scientist accredited by an approved agency (e.g., ASCP MLS).
Skills & Experience:
- Minimum of 1 year laboratory experience with high complexity testing.
- Proficient PC skills for efficient computer utilization.
- Effective interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with clinical and numerical data.
