Job Summary:
- Performs basic and routine diagnostic laboratory procedures within certified labs in the school.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performs basic and routine diagnostic procedures for the isolation and identification of microbial pathogens from clinical specimens.
- Prepare specimens and operates automated analyzers. May perform manual tests in accordance with detailed instructions.
- Maintains in-depth knowledge of techniques, principles and instrumentation, as well the physiological conditions affecting test results.
- Maintains familiarity with the various testing procedures done in the laboratory.
- Conducts or assists in special projects, evaluates new products and instrumentation and performs quality control procedures.
- Performs other related duties.
Education, Experience and Certification:
- Associate degree or combination of equivalent lab experience and education.
- 2 years of experience required also some lab exposure preferred.
- Phlebotomy experience required.
- CLS certification required:
Preferred Skills:
- NYS Clinical Laboratory Technician preferred.
- MS Office Suite – Basic.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Very good attention to detail and accuracy.
Schedule Hours Per Week: 37.50
Schedule Hours Per Day: 7.50
Schedule Days Per Week: 5.00
