Pharmacist

Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Review patient prescriptions and profiles for accuracy and appropriateness.
• Fill all prescriptions in accordance with established policies, procedures, and New York State law.
• Monitor drug therapy regimens for contraindications, drug-drug interactions, and allergies.
• Communicate with providers to clarify prescriptions.
• Provide clinical consultation and clarification (cost-effective, therapeutic alternatives).
• Be familiar with billing procedures and third-party contracts.
• Supervise pharmacy technicians.
• Provide medication counseling to patients and caregivers.
• This position does not require IV Compounding or IV Room Workflow.

Required Education:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in pharmacy.

Required Certifications & Licensure:

• Valid license to practice as a Pharmacist issued by NYSED, Primary Source Verification required.

Required Experience:

• One (1) year of Pharmacist experience.

Preferred Experience:

• Pharmacy dispensing system experience.
• Sterile Processing experience.
• IV room experience.
• Knowledge of an EMR (Electronic Medical Records) system.
• Experience with high volume prescriptions in a retail pharmacy setting.
• Familiarity with EPIC Willow Ambulatory orders and inventory.
