Job Summary:
- The Registered Dietitian is responsible for evaluating and monitoring patients’ nutritional needs through comprehensive assessments, education, and dietary planning.
- This position collaborates with healthcare providers to modify diets and ensures patient understanding of nutrition plans.
- The role requires strong analytical skills to interpret medical data and a patient-focused approach to care delivery.
Responsibilities:
- Conducts timely nutrition screenings and assessments based on care level.
- Interviews patients and/or families to collect food habits and preferences.
- Educates patients on food/drug interactions and records details appropriately.
- Interprets relevant lab results and physical/social medical data for nutrition care.
- Provides detailed nutrition education and records patient comprehension.
- Consults physicians regarding diet modifications as needed.
- Modifies patient menus to align with individual dietary needs.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Dietetics, Nutrition, or related field.
- Minimum 1 year experience – Required.
- 2+ years experience – Preferred.
Certification:
- New York State Certification as a Dietitian-Nutritionist (NYSED) – Required.
- Registration (CDR) as a Registered Dietitian – Required.
