Job Description

Job Summary:

  • The Registered Dietitian is responsible for evaluating and monitoring patients’ nutritional needs through comprehensive assessments, education, and dietary planning.
  • This position collaborates with healthcare providers to modify diets and ensures patient understanding of nutrition plans.
  • The role requires strong analytical skills to interpret medical data and a patient-focused approach to care delivery.

Responsibilities:

  • Conducts timely nutrition screenings and assessments based on care level.
  • Interviews patients and/or families to collect food habits and preferences.
  • Educates patients on food/drug interactions and records details appropriately.
  • Interprets relevant lab results and physical/social medical data for nutrition care.
  • Provides detailed nutrition education and records patient comprehension.
  • Consults physicians regarding diet modifications as needed.
  • Modifies patient menus to align with individual dietary needs.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Dietetics, Nutrition, or related field.
  • Minimum 1 year experience – Required.
  • 2+ years experience – Preferred.

Certification:

  • New York State Certification as a Dietitian-Nutritionist (NYSED) – Required.
  • Registration (CDR) as a Registered Dietitian – Required.
