Job Summary:
- The Echocardiographer is responsible for acquiring and interpreting m-mode, 2-D, pulse and continuous Doppler and color Doppler echocardiograms, contrast echocardiograms and stress echocardiograms, as well as completing echo worksheets and performing all necessary calculations in a timely manner.
- Staff member will be responsible for the care of adult and geriatric patients.
- Each staff member will rely on his/her past experiences, as well as their professional training with the geriatric and adult patient, to meet these standards.
- Continuing education required to keep a Current Registry status.
- Video/digital presentations (both in the hospital and outside).
- Seminars and conferences addressing cutting edge technology as well as reinforcement of the basic.
Duties and Responsibilities.
- Has a high degree of professional ethics and conduct.
- Is familiar with the technical operations of all ultrasound equipment.
- Performs all related diagnostic duties and patient care functions requiring comparable skills and experiences.
- Performs assessments on adult and geriatric patients, taking into consideration the physiological and anatomical needs of each patient.
- Meets standards of care for all adult and geriatric patients.
- Informs patient what is to be done and explains the steps to the patient.
- Assists Cardiologists during procedures.
- Charts all exams on patient’s medical record.
- Cleans and maintains equipment.
- Keeps assigned room clean and well stocked with supplies.
- Assists students and fellows with on-the-job training.
- May assist with evaluation of students.
- Mandatory continuing education to enhance growth.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelors of Science preferred.
- HS diploma or Equivalent required.
- At least 2 years as an Echocardiographer preferred.
Skills, Abilities:
- Current Registry status.
- Ability to grasp firmly with both hands and lift up to twenty (20) pounds routinely throughout the shift.
- Verbal and written English communication skills for safe and effective patient care and to meet documentation standards.
Physical Demands:
- Standing, walking, sitting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, balancing, bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, twisting, reaching, handling, kneeling, and wrist and digital dexterity.
- Patient lifting, ambulating, and transfer of patients in wheelchairs, on gurneys and beds, and for use of mechanical lifts.
- Speaking, hearing, and visual acuity to perform tests on patients and receive and interpret instructions.
