Job Description

Required Education:

  • Graduate from accredited college/university with a degree in Dietetics or Foods and Nutrition.

Preferred Education:

  • Master’s degree.

Required Certifications & Licensure:

  • For post-acute locations, requirements New York State Certification, issued by the New York State Education Department (NYSED) as a “Dietitian-Nutritionist”.
  • For Acute locations: Registration by the Commissions on Dietetic Registration (CDR) as a Registered Dietitian Primary Source Verification – Required.

Preferred Certifications & Licensure:

  • AHA BLS.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum one (1) year of experience.
  • Screens and assesses patients accurately and timely based on levels of care.
  • Determines patients’ nutritional needs and provides follow-up care.
  • Interviews patients/families to obtain food history and preferences.
  • Interprets laboratory, physical, and social data for nutrition care.
  • Provides nutrition education and documents patient understanding.
  • Monitors and educates patients on food/drug interactions.
  • Consults with physicians regarding diet modifications.
  • Modifies patient menus as needed.
