Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs ultrasound procedures as requested by physicians with the utmost quality.
  • Able to identify advance anatomy and assist doctors with invasive procedures.
  • Provides care for patients while obtaining diagnostic quality images for interpretation by a Radiologist.
  • Work side by side with Radiologists as well as other Doctors and Surgeons; and is able to anticipate what the Radiologist may need for each procedure.
  • Understands that the Operating Room takes precedence when a patient is sedated and on the OR table.
  • Must have the ability to take call and respond to work to help our critical patients during off hours.

Education Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Graduation from accredited ultrasound program required.

Certifications and Licensure:

  • A.R.D.M.S certification and New Mexico State license in Ultrasound required.
  • Registration in abdomen and OB/GYN preferred.
  • OB/GYN certification required.
  • BLS certification required.

Experience:

  • Minimum 1-year ultrasound experience preferred.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Thorough knowledge of sonographic procedures, equipment, and anatomy, physiology and medical terminology.
  • As well as knowledge of advance procedures such as biopsy and thoracenteses.

Working Conditions:

  • Bloodborne pathogen C.
  • Exposure to various body fluids.
  • Lifts, transfers and positions patients and equipment in excess of 50 lbs.
