Job Description
Job Summary:
- Performs diagnostic echocardiograms on adults and pediatric patients.
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Two year allied health education program that is patient care related. Allied health occupations include but are not limited to: diagnostic medical sonographer, radiologic technologist, respiratory therapist, occupational therapist, physical therapist and/or registered nurse preferred.
Licenses and Certifications:
- A.R.D.M.S./CCI registered or registry eligible or comparable national accreditation required.
- State of New Mexico Echo Sonographer License.
- BLS certification issued through American Heart Association.
Experience:
- Two years of actively doing echocardiograms preferred.
Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Demonstrates strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with others from a variety of disciplines.
- Ability to work at a rapid pace under stressful conditions.
- Manual dexterity to perform echocardiograms.
Reporting:
- Director of Cardiovascular Services.
Exposure and Physical Requirements:
- Bloodborne pathogen C.
- May be exposed to physical injury, infectious diseases and airborne and blood borne pathogens.
- Requires knowledge of safety standards to limit exposure to infectious diseases.
- Lifting patients, pushing heavy equipment, beds, and carts.
