Job Summary:
- Performs high quality MRIs for interpretation by the Radiologist in an efficient and timely manner.
- Exhibits the ability to manipulate the exam to better serve the patient requirements.
- Knows how to adjust parameters to meet patients size, body habitus and needs.
- Always puts patients safety, needs and feeling first; makes sure to check positive identification before performing all exams.
- Knows how to provide quality care to all.
- Advance knowledge of cross sectional anatomy required.
- Ability to work fluidly and as a member of a team.
- Manage patient flow and obtain pertinent patient medical information/data.
- Perform QA/QC in accordance with ACR guidelines.
- Ability to start, maintain and remove IVs and power injector.
- Has advanced knowledge of contrast media, how it affects patients and what action to take in the event of a reaction.
- Checks and double checks all contrast before it is given to the patient and charts contrast usage appropriately in the patients chart.
- Use of vital signs monitoring equipment for critical patients.
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent and graduation of accredited radiologic technology program required.
Certifications:
- ARRT certification in MRI required.
- BLS issued through American Heart Association required.
- IV certification preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum 1-year MRI experience preferred.
- IV Starts.
Knowledge/Skills:
- Thorough knowledge of MRI procedures, equipment, cross sectional anatomy, physiology, medical terminology and patient care skills.
Responsible to:
- Radiology Manager, Clinical Supervisor and Charge MRI Technologist.
Exposure:
- Bloodborne pathogen C.
- Exposure to various body fluids and magnetic field.
Physical Demands:
- Lifts, transfers, positions patients and equipment in excess of 50 pounds on a regular basis.
