Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs high quality MRIs for interpretation by the Radiologist in an efficient and timely manner. Exhibits the ability to manipulate the exam to better serve the patient requirements.
  • Knows how to adjust parameters to meet patients size, body habitus and needs.
  • Always puts patients safety, needs and feeling first; makes sure to check positive identification before performing all exams.
  • Knows how to provide quality care to all.
  • Advance knowledge of cross sectional anatomy required.
  • Ability to work fluidly and as a member of a team.
  • Manage patient flow and obtain pertinent patient medical information/data.
  • Perform QA/QC in accordance with ACR guidelines.
  • Ability to start, maintain and remove IVs and power injector.
  • Has advanced knowledge of contrast media, how it affects patients and what action to take in the event of a reaction.
  • Checks and double checks all contrast before it is given to the patient and charts contrast usage appropriately in the patients chart. Use of vital signs monitoring equipment for critical patients.

Education and Certifications/ License:

  • High school diploma or equivalent and graduation of accredited radiologic technology program required.
  • ARRT certification in MRI required.
  • New hires, who have graduated from an accredited school, will have one year to complete ARRT certification in MRI.
  • BLS issued through American Heart Association required.
  • IV certification preferred.

Knowledge, Experience:

  • Minimum 1-year MRI experience preferred.
  • IV Starts.
  • Thorough knowledge of MRI procedures, equipment, cross sectional anatomy, physiology, medical terminology and patient care skills.

Work Environment:

  • Exposure to various body fluids and magnetic field.

Physical Requirements:

  • Lifts, transfers, positions patients and equipment in excess of 50 pounds on a regular basis.
