Job Description
Job Summary:
- Assists physicians with diagnostic and therapeutic GI procedures.
- Responsible for care, maintenance, inventory and reorder of all GI related supplies and equipment.
Education:
- Completion of high school or GED.
- Prefer two years post high school education in related healthcare field, preferable in radiology, respiratory or nursing.
Certifications/ License:
- BLS certification.
- CST, SGNA, CBSPD or IAHCSMM certification.
Experience:
- Two years GI lab technician experience preferred, outpatient setting.
- Requires knowledge of safety standards to limit exposure to infectious disease and strong chemicals.
- In daily contact with body fluids of patients.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with others.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to read, write and speak fluent English; Spanish as a second language helpful.
- Ability to work at a rapid pace under stressful conditions.
Physical Requirements:
- Operates, cleans and maintains procedure equipment such as Endo Products, video and microprocessor instruments, biopsy forceps, stints, cautery, etc.
- Moves from one area to another within the hospital and/or clinic.
- Positions patients, lifts and moves equipment throughout hospital.
- Able to serve in limited nursing assistant role in Out Patient Procedure Clinic.
