Job Description

Job Summary:

  • Assists physicians with diagnostic and therapeutic GI procedures.
  • Responsible for care, maintenance, inventory and reorder of all GI related supplies and equipment.

Education:

  • Completion of high school or GED.
  • Prefer two years post high school education in related healthcare field, preferable in radiology, respiratory or nursing.

Certifications/ License:

  • BLS certification.
  • CST, SGNA, CBSPD or IAHCSMM certification.

Experience:

  • Two years GI lab technician experience preferred, outpatient setting.
  • Requires knowledge of safety standards to limit exposure to infectious disease and strong chemicals.
  • In daily contact with body fluids of patients.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to read, write and speak fluent English; Spanish as a second language helpful.
  • Ability to work at a rapid pace under stressful conditions.

Physical Requirements:

  • Operates, cleans and maintains procedure equipment such as Endo Products, video and microprocessor instruments, biopsy forceps, stints, cautery, etc.
  • Moves from one area to another within the hospital and/or clinic.
  • Positions patients, lifts and moves equipment throughout hospital.
  • Able to serve in limited nursing assistant role in Out Patient Procedure Clinic.
