Job Summary:
- The Cath Lab Technologist operates cath lab and digital imaging equipment, performs catheterization duties such as scrub assistance and equipment operation, and contributes to department upkeep.
- The role supports adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients using knowledge of growth and development principles.
- Specialized training and active participation in diagnostic cardiology, interventional cardiology, peripheral angiography, pacemaker implantation, and defibrillator implantation are expected.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Leader of Self, Others, and Leaders.
- Ensure quality acquisition of cardiac catheterization digital images.
- Position cath lab table and set imaging angles accurately.
- Assist physicians during procedures by preparing sterile equipment, catheters, and medications.
- Monitor patients’ vital signs and hemodynamic data during procedures.
- Operate fluoroscopy and other imaging equipment to capture clear heart and vessel images.
- Maintain sterile and safe environment in catheterization suite.
- Educate patients about procedures and address their questions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience:
- Graduate of an accredited Radiology Technology program or approved equivalent required.
- Bachelor of Science degree preferred.
- Minimum 1 year cath lab experience preferred.
Licenses & Certifications Required:
- Louisiana State Radiologic Technology (LSRT) license required.
- Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT) or LSRT license in state of employment required.
- BLS certification required.
- ARRT preferred.
- ACLS preferred.
