Job Description

Job Summary:

  • The Cath Lab Technologist operates cath lab and digital imaging equipment, performs catheterization duties such as scrub assistance and equipment operation, and contributes to department upkeep.
  • The role supports adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients using knowledge of growth and development principles.
  • Specialized training and active participation in diagnostic cardiology, interventional cardiology, peripheral angiography, pacemaker implantation, and defibrillator implantation are expected.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Leader of Self, Others, and Leaders.
  • Ensure quality acquisition of cardiac catheterization digital images.
  • Position cath lab table and set imaging angles accurately.
  • Assist physicians during procedures by preparing sterile equipment, catheters, and medications.
  • Monitor patients’ vital signs and hemodynamic data during procedures.
  • Operate fluoroscopy and other imaging equipment to capture clear heart and vessel images.
  • Maintain sterile and safe environment in catheterization suite.
  • Educate patients about procedures and address their questions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience:

  • Graduate of an accredited Radiology Technology program or approved equivalent required.
  • Bachelor of Science degree preferred.
  • Minimum 1 year cath lab experience preferred.

Licenses & Certifications Required:

  • Louisiana State Radiologic Technology (LSRT) license required.
  • Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT) or LSRT license in state of employment required.
  • BLS certification required.
  • ARRT preferred.
  • ACLS preferred.
