Job Description
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- Perform complex CT procedures.
- Review and obtain patient clinical history and ensure documentation is scanned into PACS.
- Prepare, screen, and review contrast questionnaires and scan documentation into EPIC.
- Identify and/or administer contrast media as prescribed.
- Review patient prescriptions and communicate with Radiologist/Referring Physician when clarification or additional clinical information is needed.
- Verify insurance-authorized exam scripts and send exam modification forms to Finance for insurance re-verification.
- Obtain outside studies and schedule them in EPIC so CDs and reports are available in PACS for comparison.
- Provide exam copies to patients, requesting physicians, and/or family members.
- Evaluate radiographs using PACS to ensure proper identification and diagnostic quality.
- Gather relevant information from medical records, caregivers, and healthcare providers to prepare scanning protocols and ensure patient safety.
- Determine whether patients are appropriately prepared for procedures and prepare patients for scanning.
- Determine appropriate contrast type and dose.
- Provide patient instructions and address/document questions and concerns.
- Perform venipuncture, IV patency, and IV maintenance procedures according to established guidelines.
- Monitor patients for adverse reactions during procedures.
- Work scheduled weekends, holidays as required, and on-call assignments as needed per department policy.
- Lift at least 25 lbs., push/pull at least 50 lbs., and stand at least 6 hours per day.
- Modify and deliver care according to patient age, culture, language, hearing, visual, developmental, educational, and literacy needs.
Required Experience:
- 5 years of experience.
- General CT with and without contrast, CTAs, and perfusion.
- Experience using Client Revolution CT Scanner.
- Six months CT experience.
- Epic and HIS/RIS experience.
Required Education:
- Graduate of a Radiologic Technologist program.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Required Licensure & Certifications.
Diagnostic Radiography License:
- ARRT Certified R.T.(R) license.
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
- Preferred Licensure & Certifications.
- ARRT certified R.T. (CT) license.
Required Skills:
- Knowledge of anatomy and physiology, radiological positioning of the human body, General CT with and without contrast, CTAs, perfusion, understanding of CT software and hardware, thorough knowledge of PACS system, maintaining CEU credits.
- ARRT (CT) certification required within 12 months following hire.
- AHA BLS certification required within 3 months following hire.
Additional Skills:
- Usage of Client Revolution CT Scanner, HIS/RIS system, venipuncture, IV patency, IV maintenance procedures, Epic.
