Job Description
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform complex CT procedures, producing sectional and 3D images for interpretation and therapeutic procedures.
- Review patient history, prescriptions, and insurance authorizations to ensure exam accuracy.
- Prepare, screen, and administer contrast media as prescribed.
- Communicate with Radiologists/Referring Physicians to verify or clarify prescriptions.
- Obtain and process outside studies for comparison.
- Evaluate radiographs in PACS for accuracy and diagnostic quality.
- Provide patient education, instructions, and support throughout procedures.
- Perform venipuncture and IV procedures per guidelines.
- Monitor patient condition for adverse reactions during scanning.
- Adhere to departmental and organizational standards, including safety, attendance, and behavior policies.
Education:
- Graduate of a Radiologic Technologist program β Required.
- High School diploma or equivalent β Required.
Licensure & Certifications:
- NJ DEP Diagnostic Radiography License β Required.
- ARRT Certified R.T.(R) license β Required.
- BLS (AHA) β Required.
- ARRT (CT) license β Preferred.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and radiological positioning of the human body β Required.
- Understanding of CT software/hardware mechanics β Required.
- Thorough knowledge of PACS system β Required.
- Maintains CEU credits β Required.
- ARRT (CT) certification must be achieved within 12 months of hire β Required.
- American Heart Association BLS certification within 3 months of hire β Required.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Six months CT experience β Preferred.
- Knowledge of Epic and other HIS/RIS systems β Preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Perform lifting (25 lbs), pushing/pulling (50 lbs), and standing (6+ hours/day).
- Deliver care tailored to patient-specific needs (age, culture, impairments, etc.).
