Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform complex CT procedures, producing sectional and 3D images for interpretation and therapeutic procedures.
  • Review patient history, prescriptions, and insurance authorizations to ensure exam accuracy.
  • Prepare, screen, and administer contrast media as prescribed.
  • Communicate with Radiologists/Referring Physicians to verify or clarify prescriptions.
  • Obtain and process outside studies for comparison.
  • Evaluate radiographs in PACS for accuracy and diagnostic quality.
  • Provide patient education, instructions, and support throughout procedures.
  • Perform venipuncture and IV procedures per guidelines.
  • Monitor patient condition for adverse reactions during scanning.
  • Adhere to departmental and organizational standards, including safety, attendance, and behavior policies.

Education:

  • Graduate of a Radiologic Technologist program – Required.
  • High School diploma or equivalent – Required.

Licensure & Certifications:

  • NJ DEP Diagnostic Radiography License – Required.
  • ARRT Certified R.T.(R) license – Required.
  • BLS (AHA) – Required.
  • ARRT (CT) license – Preferred.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and radiological positioning of the human body – Required.
  • Understanding of CT software/hardware mechanics – Required.
  • Thorough knowledge of PACS system – Required.
  • Maintains CEU credits – Required.
  • ARRT (CT) certification must be achieved within 12 months of hire – Required.
  • American Heart Association BLS certification within 3 months of hire – Required.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • Six months CT experience – Preferred.
  • Knowledge of Epic and other HIS/RIS systems – Preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Perform lifting (25 lbs), pushing/pulling (50 lbs), and standing (6+ hours/day).
  • Deliver care tailored to patient-specific needs (age, culture, impairments, etc.).
