Job Description

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Select and operate Nuclear Medicine equipment and provide required immobilization devices.
  • Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals and radioactive tracer compounds.
  • Perform radionuclide procedures including organ imaging and function studies.
  • Perform general Nuclear Medicine and cardiac studies; rotate to Cardiology and PET/CT as needed.
  • Assist physicians with therapeutic use of radioisotopes under prescribed safety conditions.
  • Calibrate equipment and assay radionuclides.
  • Receive and inspect radiopharmaceutical packages according to state and NRC guidelines.
  • Maintain records for radioisotope receipt, use, storage and disposal.
  • Evaluate images through PACS for proper identification and diagnostic quality.
  • Maintain radiation protection, contamination-free conditions, equipment cleanliness and safety standards.
  • Follow NRC, State and JCAHO guidelines/practices.
  • Use EPIC, Teletracking, Nuclear Medicine Information System and patient scheduling systems for daily clerical and study-processing duties.
  • Provide patient communication and care according to patient age, culture, language and individual needs.
  • Participate in scheduled shifts, on-call assignments, weekends/holidays as applicable, and overtime as needed.

Required Additional Skills:

  • Client Equipment, SPECT, SPECT/CT, Therapeutic Use of Radioisotopes, Radiation Protection, Radiopharmaceuticals, Radioactive Tracer Compounds, Radioisotope.
  • Receipt/Use/Storage/Disposal, PACS, EPIC, Teletrac king System, Nuclear Medicine Information System, Patient Scheduling, Computer Processing Associated with Patient Studies.
  • General Nuclear Medicine, Cardiac Studies, Organ Imaging, Function Studies.

Required Education Licensure & Certifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • Graduate of an approved School of Nuclear Medicine Technology.
  • Valid NJDEP License.
  • ARRT or NMTCB Registry.
  • BLS – American Heart Association.

Required Experience:

  • Minimum 1 year clinical experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist in a busy hospital setting.
  • 2+ years Nuclear Medicine experience.
