Job Description
Job Summary:
- Performs computer tomography procedures and related techniques, producing sectional and three-dimensional images for interpretation.
- Assists with interventional and therapeutic procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performs complex CT procedures.
- Reviews and obtains patient clinical history and documents information into PACS.
- Prepares, screens, and reviews contrast questionnaires with patients/family and scans into EPIC.
- Identifies and/or administers contrast media as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
- Reviews patient prescriptions and communicates with Radiologists and Referring Physicians for clarification when necessary.
- Verifies insurance-authorized exam scripts and coordinates exam modification forms for re-verification.
- Obtains outside studies/CDs and schedules them in EPIC for PACS comparison.
- Provides exam copies to patients, physicians, and family members.
- Evaluates radiographs in PACS to ensure proper identification and diagnostic quality.
- Uses appropriate techniques to gather patient information for protocols and patient safety.
- Determines patient readiness and preparation for procedures.
- Prepares patients for scanning including shielding and immobilization devices.
- Determines appropriate type and dose of contrast administration.
- Provides accurate patient explanations and instructions regarding procedures.
- Performs venipuncture, IV patency, and maintenance procedures according to guidelines.
- Monitors patient condition for adverse reactions during procedures.
- Works scheduled shifts including weekends and holidays.
- Performs overtime and on-call assignments as needed.
- Adheres to Employee ID, attendance, punctuality, and Standards of Behavior policies.
- Lifts a minimum of 25 lbs., pushes/pulls a minimum of 50 lbs., and stands a minimum of 6 hours per day.
- Delivers patient care appropriate to age, culture, language, and communication needs.

Required Education:
- Graduate of a Radiologic Technologist program.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
Required Certifications & Licensure:
- NJ DEP Diagnostic Radiography License.
- ARRT Certified R.T.(R) license required.
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
Preferred Certifications & Licensure:
- ARRT certified R.T. (CT) license preferred. Schedule Notes:
Required Skills & Experience:
- Knowledge of anatomy and physiology and radiological positioning of the human body.
- Understanding of CT software and hardware mechanics.
- Thorough knowledge of PACS system.
- Maintains CEU credits.
- Trauma 1 / Stroke Center experience required.
- Experience as a CT Technologist required.
- Patient care skills required.
- Minimum 2 years of full-time experience as a CT Technologist required.
- Team members must achieve ARRT (CT) certification within 12 months following hire date.
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification within 3 months of hire date.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Six months CT experience preferred.
- Knowledge of Epic and any HIS/RIS systems used by the hospital.
- ARRT certified R.T. (CT) license preferred.
- Preferred 5+ years of experience.
