Job Description
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for ensuring safe procedures carried out in delivery of cardiac services to patients.
- Always accurately checks supplies for expiration dates.
- All expired equipment is identified in a timely manner.
- Supplies are orderly and clean.
- Insures that par levels of all required supplies and radiographic equipment are maintained, stored and utilized.
- Prepares procedure room.
- Lays out necessary supplies prior to procedure.
- Turnover time is kept to within 15 minutes.
- Scrubs with cardiologists, demonstrates familiarity with individual cardiologists preferences.
- Maintains aseptic surgical technique throughout invasive procedures and maintains universal precautions.
Scrub tech skills include:
- LHC, RHC, PTCA, STENT, PTCRA, PTMR, TEC.
- Always verifies correct identification of patient.
- All films, medical record components are properly identified for each patient.
- Verifies all consents and low risk criteria.
- Follows policy and procedure for operation, troubleshooting, service contact, quality control and archival system.
- Demonstrates ability to use and care for all technical equipment and supplies including x-ray/film processing equipment.
- Identifies equipment problems and safety hazards and takes appropriate action to initiate repairs.
- Understands the mechanics of operation of the various CCL systems; able to eventually troubleshoot problems and correct identified deficiencies.
- Maintains downtime log.
- Maintains accurate and complete procedural logs and/or technical notations.
- Accurately obtains, calculates and analyzes Hemodynamic data.
- Minimum of patient concerns is expressed.
- Assists in preparing patient for procedure.
- Assists patient in procedure to maintain maximum comfort and safety.
- Educates patient on procedure pre and post.
- Maintains accurate and complete records.
- Insures proper completion of eport/documentation, including X-ray requisitions, film labels, etc.
- Properly handles Cine Films (including mailing & retrieving films).
Experience:
- Required IR experience- HIGHLY Preferred.
- PCI Experience- Required.
Certification/ License:
- BLS – AHA, ACLS – AHA – Required.
- Telemetry Certification- Highly preferred.
- Cath Lab/Interventional Radiology Unit.
- Maintains IABP Certification.
- Effectively passes Monitor Technician Certification/Annual Telemetry Review.
Schedule Note:
- 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM 4×10’s- Variable shift hours No Weekends.
- No Holidays.
- On Call-Required- 1 shift per week.
- 1 weekend every 8 weeks (possibly more) – On Call hours are 5:30PM – 7:00AM on weekdays and 24 hours on weekends.
- 13 Week assignment 1-2 years of Cath Lab Tech.
