Job Description

Duties:

  • Provides technical support in the cardiac catheterization laboratory during invasive cardiovascular procedures.
  • Provides technical support during invasive cardiovascular procedures.
  • Provides patient care under the supervision of the RN.
  • Assists physicians in radiological imaging of cardiac and vascular procedures, acts as scrub assistant, maintaining sterile conditions during clinical procedures.
  • Operates imaging equipment and works in the control room monitoring and documenting procedure images and events.
  • Educates patients and families regarding the procedure and about the expectations of the procedure.
  • Teaches patient and family about pre and post procedure physical conditions.
  • Assists in maintaining order and cleanliness of the unit.
  • Maintains appropriate stock levels for complex interventions and diagnostic procedures.
  • Completes daily, progress and discharge documentation according to departmental standards.
  • Accurately documents productivity information.
  • Participates in quality and patient safety initiatives.
  • Identifies potential areas for improvement including processes that could be streamlined or revised to improve patient satisfaction.
  • Identifies potential safety hazards that may create problems for patients and/or staff, and takes appropriate actions.
  • Promotes mission, vision, and values of SCL Health, and abides by service behavior standards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Preferred Education:

  • Associate’s degree preferred.

Required Certifications & Licensure:

  • Registered ARRT is required or Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Technologist RCIS is required within 18 months of hire or Registered Respiratory Therapist with CV specific certification or RCIS or RCES required.
  • BLS – American Heart Association.
  • Current ACLS certification endorsed by the American Heart Association.
  • Fluoroscopy Certification.
  • Radiation badges need to be supplied by the vendor.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • Two (2) years of experience in Cardiology/Cath Lab is preferred.
