Certified Surgical Technologist

Job Description

Job Summary:

• Under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN), the incumbent participates in the delivery of patient care to maximize patient outcomes while adhering to the hospital’s mission, values, departmental standards, and professional practice guidelines.
• This role is responsible for ensuring safe, effective patient care throughout surgical procedures through appropriate planning, implementation, and support.

Required Education:

• Graduate of accredited school for surgical technologies.

Required Certifications & Licenses:

• Current certification as a Surgical Technologist.

Preferred Certifications & Licenses:

• Current CPR certification – BLS for Healthcare Providers per the American Heart Association Guidelines Preferred.

Required Experience:

• Prior experience in pediatrics.
• Prior experience as a Surgical Technologist.

Required Skills:

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with patients, families, physicians, and multidisciplinary team members.
• Interest in working with children and adolescents with disabilities and their families.
• Ability to work the required schedule, including 10-hour shifts.
• Physically capable of safely transporting patients.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

• Experience with spine and complex ortho surgical preferred.
