Job Summary:
- Provides MRI exams for diagnosis and treatment of patients as ordered by physician or provider.
- Provides imaging which affects the adequacy of clinical data and research conclusions, the correct diagnosis and treatment of patients.
- Efficiently operates related system & equipment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performs magnetic resonance imaging studies as ordered by physician or provider according to approved procedures.
- Performs IV punctures and administers contrast as ordered.
- Performs exam with technical accuracy and in a timely manner.
- Identifies anatomical orientation on all related images.
- Completes communication of pertinent data to persons responsible for the care of the patient following the examination.
- Consults with professional staff members in interpretation of results.
- Schedules patients for MRI exams.
- Assists with QA/QI of PACS system.
- Ensures proper identification on all images, accurately completes computer functions according to department policies including appropriate edits, status changes, charges, logging, film marking, and storage preparation to ensure proper follow-up.
- Keeps abreast of and implements new improvement developments in field of MRI.
- Communicates and interfaces effectively with clinicians, physicians, radiologists, technologists and patients.
- Completes communication of pertinent data to persons responsible for the care of the patient following the examination.
- Consults with professional staff members in interpretation of results.
- Demonstrates ability to provide care or service adjusting approaches to reflect developmental level of population served (If applicable to position).
- Partners with patient/caregiver in care/decision making.
- Communicates in a respectful manner.
- Ensures a safe, secure environment.
- Individualizes plan of care to meet patient needs.
- Modifies clinical interventions based on population served.
- Provides patient education based on assessment of learning needs of patient/caregiver.
Required Education:
- AAS degree or equivalent Hospital based training program with certificate of completion.
Required Certifications & Licensure:
- Registered technologist with ARRT certification as a R.T. ( R ).
- BLS (American Heart Assoc. or American Red Cross).
Required Skills & Experience:
- Minimum of 3 to 6 months as a MRI Technologist.
- Knowledge of basic nursing practices related to MRI, including emergency procedures, sterile practices, infection control techniques, and CPR.
- Experience working in an academic or clinical setting.
- Excellent problem solving. communication and critical thinking skills.
