Job Description
Job Summary:
- Applies scientific knowledge/therapy to practical clinical problems of respiratory care.
- As a team member in delivery of respiratory services, and under medical direction, performs a wide range of procedures related to the care of patients with general and specialized respiratory-related needs, including those in the Pediatric areas.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performs evaluation to determine respiratory care needs, and makes appropriate recommendations and changes in accordance with policy and protocol guidelines.
- Assesses effectiveness of treatment and accurately documents according to department and legal/regulatory standards.
- Completes and documents required education and competencies within designated time frame.
- Maintains competency in areas of accountability.
- Accurate and timely completion of all necessary documentation and billing.
- Facilitates a smooth transition for the patient to appropriate referral services / the next point of service/home and provides education to patients and families as it relates to respiratory issues.
- Instructs and trains other respiratory care staff, nursing and other medical personnel and students regarding patient needs and respiratory care services.
- Actively participates in safety initiatives and risk mitigating measures where appropriate and completes all position and unit safety related competencies and requirements on a timely basis.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education:
- Associate’s Degree- Respiratory Therapy.
- Bachelor’s Degree- Respiratory Therapy.
Licenses/Certifications:
- LIC-Respiratory Therapist- State of Michigan- Upon Hire- Required.
- CRT-Respiratory Therapist Certification – (NBRC) National Board for Respiratory Care- Upon Hire.
- CRT-Respiratory Therapist Registry – (NBRC) National Board for Respiratory Care- 1 Year- Required.
- CRT-Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) – (AHA) American Heart Association- 90 Days Required.
- CRT-Adv Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) -(AHA)American Heart Association -90 Days- Required.
- CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) – (AHA) American Heart Association- 90 Days Required Or CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) – client 90 Days- Required.
