Job Summary:
- Under the general supervision of the Respiratory Therapy Supervisor, the Respiratory Therapist provides life-support, resuscitation, patient monitoring, and medical gas therapies.
- Responsibilities include performing invasive and non-invasive diagnostic procedures for patients in Intensive Care and General Practice units, maintaining clinical expertise across assigned departments, and collaborating effectively with patients, physicians, and the healthcare team.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Providing respiratory care and diagnostic services to ICU and General Practice patients.
- Accurately documenting all aspects of patient care.
- Supervising and mentoring Respiratory Therapists, new hires, externs, and students as assigned.
- Completing accurate patient billing documentation.
- Maintaining effective communication with patients, physicians, and interdisciplinary staff.
Required Education:
- Associate of Science Degree, from an accredited Respiratory Therapist program.
Preferred Education:
- Bachelors in Respiratory Therapy preferred.
Required Certification & Licensure:
- Current License – Respiratory Therapist in the State of Michigan.
- Current BLS certification (AHA).
- Must be a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT credential) registered with the National Board of Respiratory Care.
Required Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of recent Respiratory Therapist experience.
Preferred Experience:
- Neonatal Intensive Care Unit ( NICU) experience.
- Experience working in a Level II Trauma Center.
