Job Description
Job Summary:
- Under general supervision of the Respiratory Therapy Supervisor, the Respiratory Therapist provides life support, resuscitation, monitoring, and medical gas therapy to patients.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performing invasive and non-invasive diagnostic procedures for ICU and general care patients.
- Maintaining clinical expertise across assigned units.
- Communicating effectively with patients, physicians, and healthcare staff regarding care needs.
- Accurately documenting all aspects of patient care.
- Supervising and guiding therapists, students, and externs as assigned.
- Completing accurate patient billing documentation.
Required Education:
- Associate of Science Degree from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program
Preferred Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Respiratory Therapy.
Required Certifications & Licensure:
- Registration with the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
- Current Respiratory Therapist License (State of Michigan).
- BLS certification (AHA).
Required Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of recent experience as a Respiratory Therapist
Preferred Experience:
- Neonatal ICU (NICU) experience.
- Experience in a Level II Trauma facility.
