Respiratory Therapist

Job Description

Job Summary:

• Under general supervision of the Respiratory Therapy Supervisor, the Respiratory Therapist provides life support, resuscitation, monitoring, and medical gas therapy to patients.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Performing invasive and non-invasive diagnostic procedures for ICU and general care patients.
• Maintaining clinical expertise across assigned units.
• Communicating effectively with patients, physicians, and healthcare staff regarding care needs.
• Accurately documenting all aspects of patient care.
• Supervising and guiding therapists, students, and externs as assigned.
• Completing accurate patient billing documentation.

Required Education:

• Associate of Science Degree from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program

Preferred Education:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Respiratory Therapy.

Required Certifications & Licensure:

• Registration with the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
• Current Respiratory Therapist License (State of Michigan).
• BLS certification (AHA).

Required Experience:

• Minimum 2 years of recent experience as a Respiratory Therapist

Preferred Experience:

• Neonatal ICU (NICU) experience.
• Experience in a Level II Trauma facility.
