Job Description

Job Summary:

  • Applies scientific knowledge/therapy to practical clinical problems of respiratory care.
  • As a team member in delivery of respiratory services, and under medical direction, performs a wide range of procedures related to the care of patients with general and specialized respiratory-related needs, including those in the Pediatric areas.
  • The RRT will only see mainly adult patients but could need to assist pediatric and will work in all inpatient units.
  • The ideal RRT will have 3+ years of experience and have used EPIC EMR as well as Avea and client vents.
  • Client requires all team members to receive the COVID-19 vaccinations subject to certain exclusions based on the team members job category.

Essential Functions:

  • Performs evaluation to determine respiratory care needs, and makes appropriate recommendations and changes in accordance with policy and protocol guidelines.
  • Assesses effectiveness of treatment and accurately documents according to department and legal/regulatory standards.
  • Completes and documents required education and competencies within designated timeframe.
  • Maintains competency in areas of accountability.
  • Accurate and timely completion of all necessary documentation and billing.
  • Facilitates a smooth transition for the patient to appropriate referral services / the next point of service/home and provides education to patients and families as it relates to respiratory issues.
  • Instructs and trains other respiratory care staff, nursing and other medical personnel and students regarding patient needs and respiratory care services.
  • Actively participates in safety initiatives and risk mitigating measures where appropriate and completes all position and unit safety related competencies and requirements on a timely basis.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education:

  • Associate’s Degree.
  • Bachelor’s Degree.

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Respiratory Therapy.
  • LIC-Respiratory Therapist – State of Michigan- Upon Hire Required.
  • CRT-Respiratory Therapist Certification – (NBRC) National Board for Respiratory Care- Upon Hire.
  • CRT-Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) – (AHA) American Heart Association- 90 Days Required.
  • CRT-Adv Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) – AHA American Heart Association 90 Days Required
  • CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) – AHA American Heart Association 90 Days Required Or CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) – ARC Required
