Job Description
Job Summary:
- Applies scientific knowledge/therapy to practical clinical problems of respiratory care.
- As a team member in delivery of respiratory services, and under medical direction, performs a wide range of procedures related to the care of patients with general and specialized respiratory-related needs, including those in the Pediatric areas.
- The RRT will only see mainly adult patients but could need to assist pediatric and will work in all inpatient units.
- The ideal RRT will have 3+ years of experience and have used EPIC EMR as well as Avea and client vents.
- Client requires all team members to receive the COVID-19 vaccinations subject to certain exclusions based on the team members job category.
Essential Functions:
- Performs evaluation to determine respiratory care needs, and makes appropriate recommendations and changes in accordance with policy and protocol guidelines.
- Assesses effectiveness of treatment and accurately documents according to department and legal/regulatory standards.
- Completes and documents required education and competencies within designated timeframe.
- Maintains competency in areas of accountability.
- Accurate and timely completion of all necessary documentation and billing.
- Facilitates a smooth transition for the patient to appropriate referral services / the next point of service/home and provides education to patients and families as it relates to respiratory issues.
- Instructs and trains other respiratory care staff, nursing and other medical personnel and students regarding patient needs and respiratory care services.
- Actively participates in safety initiatives and risk mitigating measures where appropriate and completes all position and unit safety related competencies and requirements on a timely basis.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education:
- Associate’s Degree.
- Bachelor’s Degree.
Licenses/Certifications:
- Respiratory Therapy.
- LIC-Respiratory Therapist – State of Michigan- Upon Hire Required.
- CRT-Respiratory Therapist Certification – (NBRC) National Board for Respiratory Care- Upon Hire.
- CRT-Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) – (AHA) American Heart Association- 90 Days Required.
- CRT-Adv Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) – AHA American Heart Association 90 Days Required
- CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) – AHA American Heart Association 90 Days Required Or CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) – ARC Required
